Management Team

Michael Carruthers (CMgr FCMI, MBA)

Managing Director

Beginning his working life in food retail, Michael quickly rose to a management position at age 16, and by age 27, he had become the store manager of mulitple food retail stores, a company director of mulitple companies in the creative sector, the owner of a property portfolio, and holder of a wealth of qualifications. These include an MBA (Masters of Business Administration). In 2020, Michael was awarded a Fellowship from the Chartered Management Institute.

Kat Carruthers (BSc Hons, MRCOT, PhD Candidate)

Creative and Research Director

Being dual trained in both the creative and healthcare industries has allowed Kat to collaborate and work seamlessly and confidently across multiple sectors including the charity sector. Kat has published several academic pieces in scientific peer reviewed journals. She currently specialises in clinical research, audit and evaluation of services as a final-year PhD student. Her interests include creative dissemination of complex information to the general population.

Macaulay Richardson-Best

Operations Manager

 

Following great success in English Language and driven by a passion for Photography and its written theory, Macaulay completed a Photography Diploma at the Northern School of Art. He has developed his skills in website development, SEO, copywriting, site audits, and social media marketing all through an apprenticeship that led him to become an Executive Digital Marketer, and now take up a management role with HUGOBea, heading operations.

Michael Gatenby

HUGOBea Team

Starting his working life in retail, Michael has vast experience with stock control and visual merchandising. He secured a position as the youngest supervisor at the large retail superstore in which he was working, overseeing several departments. Michael supported senior management in the training and development of staff and acted as duty manager when required. Michael became deputy manager at a successful visual media business, supporting its continued growth.

Michael Brown (BA Hons, MA)

HUGOBea Team

Michael is multi-skilled in several aspects of digital media. Achieving a degree in Interior architecture Design in 2010 and Masters in Digital Arts and Design in 2011. Michael is well versed in many creative software programs and digital techniques. Michael has many years of experience working in photography, videography, and digital media for companies including ‘The Walt Disney Company’, leading the photography department.

Laura Carruthers

HUGOBea Team

Laura entered the visual media industry in 2013 via an apprenticeship scheme. Laura has worked for several companies and provided services including search engine optimisation (SEO), copywriting, social media marketing, photography, videography, and advertising. Laura previously managed a corporate photography department in a large retail store. Alongside working in the media industry, Laura has gained experience working in the financial sector.

Catherine Richardson (FSc)

HUGOBea Team

Catherine has extensive experience working in and with the Health, Social Care and Voluntarysectors. She was awarded a distinction in her FSc qualification in Health and Social Care in 2019. Catherine voluntarily manages a community theatre group and excels in the performing arts. Catherine currently volunteers in the visual media industry, supporting senior management with company operations and business development.

Charlotte Gatenby (BSc Hons)

HUGOBea Team

Having graduated in 2017 with a BSC Hons, Charlotte combined her degree with her years of work with children to conitnue and develop her career. Charlotte left the childcare sector in 2019 after the birth of her son and took a managerial position within a family business which has since grown into a large scale business. Charlotte has opened her own business alongside working in this managerial role, holding both positions.
